New Year, New Mindset

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

We made it to a brand new year and I’m so excited about it! I am one of those people who absolutes LOVES new beginnings because I believe we can always begin again. No matter what has transpired in our lives, if we’re breathing, we have the opportunity to try again.

I realize that not everybody thinks that way. The ability to think that way doesn’t happen overnight, but it can happen.

But it does require a mindset shift. So that’s my personal focus this month and for the remainder of this year.

I’m CHOOSING to renew my mind.

One way I’m doing that is by reading a book recommended by one of my favorite business influencers, Tom Bilyeu. He is the co-founder of Quest Nutrition and Impact Theory. He built Quest Nutrition from scratch and turned it into a billion dollar business within five years!! Now, he is devoted to helping other people change their mindsets so they can live out their true potential.

He attributes his ability to achieve the level of success he had with Quest Nutrition to a book he read years ago – “Mindset” by Carol Dweck. In this book, she describes the difference between a fixed mindset and a growth mindset. A growth mindset allows you to become whoever you truly want to become and to do whatever you set your mind to.

I’ve wanted to read it for awhile, so I’ve started it. I’m looking forward to making the necessary mindset shift that will allow me to accomplish all I desire to do. I’m excited for what I’m going to learn.

One of the things I hope this book does for me is to allow me to believe BIGGER!

Over the years, I have minimized my dreams, and I know that is completely fear-based. If you take enough bumps and bruises in life it will eventually impact your ability to believe again. To take huge leaps of faith and to take risks.

I’ve been doing that for the past couple of years and I want to stop that. It’s limiting my abilities and what I can achieve.

I especially want to do that with my work through Plant Food ROCKS. The dreams I have for the schools, children, and communities I serve are impacted by my limiting beliefs. They deserve better than that. I deserve better than that.

So, I’m shifting how I view failure. I choose to believe there is no such thing as “failure”. Either I win or I learn.

Everything that happens is a lesson. Failure has the ability to teach us lessons we will never learn from constantly “winning”.

I can’t say I won’t ever experience feelings of fear, but I will no longer allow it to stop me. I’m just going to jump in and do it afraid.

Anyway, that’s where my head is this year.

What about you? Do you have anything in particular that you want to accomplish? Or are you someone who doesn’t set goals in the new year? Either way, I’d love to hear your perspective. Please share your comments below.

In the meantime, I’m wishing you SO much joy and prosperity! You really do deserve it!

Until next time….
