This has been an incredible year for Plant Food ROCKS and it just keeps getting better every day. We were recently awarded a community grant from Walmart.

This mini-grant will help us expand our school gardens project in the Arlington area. We launched our pilot project at Merrill Road Elementary School back in the spring. Now that school is back in session, we’ll continue that project this school year. We have big plans for that garden.

Next, we will be launching our second school garden project at another elementary school in the Arlington area. That project is in the planning stage and we hope to get it off the ground this fall.

Our primary strategy for creating these school gardens is to target Title 1 schools in low-income areas, especially the Arlington area of Jacksonville. This is my neighborhood, so I feel compelled to start where I live. I have a sincere desire to make an impact that will change the lives of generations to come.

I feel so blessed that the leadership at my neighborhood Walmart shares my desire. The store manager of this location has such a heart to serve. He has assured me that this is just the beginning of a beautiful partnership. We are about to embark on an innovative approach to serving this community. I’m beyond excited for what we’re about to do. Once the plans are put into place and everything is finalized I will provide you an update.

For now, I just want to share with you all that we’re doing and thank you for your support. It really does take a village to make sustainable, long-term changes. So, whether you have donated to our cause, offered an encouraging word, or simply opened up an email to learn about what we’re doing, I consider you a part of our tribe.

Until next time…

Peace, Love, & Fitness!
